Quantum coherence in light-harvesting complexes
Summary
In this project we will explore the quantum dynamical properties of biological systems with a particular emphasis on membranes composed of large numbers of light-harvesting complexes. We will use the ability to control the structure of light-harvesting complexes and their spatial arrangements to engineer this form of interacting quantum system and to investigate, both theoretically and experimentally, the interplay between coherent and incoherent mechanisms of energy transfer.
